Code update 1/30/13

January 30, 2013

More fixes and enhancements to the Scheduler and Skills Tracker

1. In the Scheduler, students could view each others shifts in the List View. This was problematic because it was happening automatically and ignoring the administrative settings that might be set to prohibit students from viewing each other's schedules.

This bug was only recently brought to our attention, which we attribute to the List View being the less popular way to view shifts in the Scheduler. We have since fixed this to behave as expected. Now, if you don't want student's to see each other's schedules, this is working in both the Calendar and List View.

2. In the Skills Tracker, we changed the way we format dates and times in the students' Shift List. It now displays like this:

Code release 1/29/13: Skills Tracker interventions added

January 29, 2013

For the Skills Tracker, we added the intervention option Hospital notify for students to document as part of their Skills and Patient Care form. This option is now turned on as a default.

Additionally, we added the Kendrick Extrication Device, Spider Harness, and Scoop Stretcher to the available interventions that students can select in the "Other" category of the Skills & Patient Care form. These three interventions are not automatically turned on as a default setting.

Code updates 1/9/13

January 9, 2013

An overview of our most recent updates and fixes on the Fisdap website and how it might affect you!

1.  We updated the students' Create/Edit Shift form to prevent them from entering a time in the shift "duration" field greater than 120 hours.

We made this change because we noticed students who were breezing through this form would type in the time the shift ended instead of a "duration" or length of the shift.  A student who made this mistake might enter "2000" (for a shift ending at 8pm) and Fisdap would give him credit for a 2000 hour shift!

2.  The PDF generator for the Accreditation report Appendix G/H was broken, and now it's fixed!

3.  We send out emails anytime a student experiences a "signifcant event" during their shift. The email contains a link to review the relative shift data in Fisdap, and that link needed to be updated.

Updates to our site

September 12, 2012

What our developers were working on in August...

1. New Feature -  We added a new report, the Preceptor Signoff Evaluation Graph, to the Reports section of Fisdap. This report pulls data from the Preceptor Signoff evaluation in Fisdap 2.0 and displays student progress with a Eureka Graph.

2. Bug fix - Evals for clinical shifts that had been entered in Fisdap 1.0 will now appropriately link to their clinical shifts in 2.0.

Changes to our test delivery system now live!

August 6, 2012

Our planned upgrades from Moodle 1.9 to 2.3 went swimmingly this past weekend.  The Testing, Pilot Testing, and Study Tools moodles have all been upgraded and are now back online.  We made a few back-end database changes that will allow our Test Development team to get statistics that will help them better analyze items and exams.

Now, when you or your students take an exam or use Study Tools, you will notice:

  • a look/feel that matches Fisdap 2.0 more closely
  • 1 question per page on all secure exams (to mimic NREMT exams)

  • a timer on secure exams that allows 1 min/question (75 minutes for Unit Exams, 200 minutes for Comprehensive)

For more information about these changes and a demonstration of what's been updated, please sign up for our August 21st webinar.

April 13, 2012 - Read more about the new MyFisdap page.

We're excited to announce the release of the new MyFisdap page, which is now available to all Fisdap 2.0 users! The new MyFisdap page has a ton of added functionality that we think you will find really helpful. For starters, we have the "productivity widget," an inbox-like feature that will organize announcements, To-Dos, and shifts. We're also premiering a file uploader, which will give you the ability to share files, like the syllabus, with your students and fellow educators. You will truly be able to think of the MyFisdap page as your dashboard for Fisdap command central.
